The Demetriades - Tsafka - Kokkalis Prizes are awarded annually to PhD candidates selected for the best thesis, publication, or discovery in select fields.
Emily de Jong, a PhD Candidate in Mechanical Engineering, receives the award for his thesis, "Cloudy with a Chance of Microphysics: Modeling Droplet Collisions for the Climate Scale."
Alexandra Baumgart Receives 2025 Richard B. Chapman Memorial Award. The Richard B. Chapman Memorial Award is given to an EAS graduate student in hydrodynamics who has distinguished themself in research.
Seola Lee, a PhD Candidate in Mechanical Engineering, receives the award for his thesis, "Multiscale Design, Fabrication, and Mechanical Analysis of Structural Hierarchies in Functional Materials."
The winners of the 2025 New Horizons Awards were announced at the end of the 2024-2025 academic year. The New Horizons Award is presented annually by the Division of Engineering and Applied Science to recognize individuals within EAS who actively contribute to our goal of fostering an engineering community where all members can thrive and reach their full potential.
