- Postdoctoral Position in the Application of Machine Learning in Multi-scale Modeling of Materials
Applications are sought for the position of Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Mechanical and Civil Engineering at the California Institute of Technology. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D with experience in Computational Mechanics, Computational Materials Science or Computational Mathematics, with an interest in the use of Machine Learning methods. Experience with Machine Learning methods is desirable, but not required. The candidate will work with Kaushik Bhattacharya to develop numerically efficient and physically meaningful machine-learnt surrogates of fine-scale behavior in the context of plasticity, fracture and other inelastic phenomena, and those that can be employed in large-scale models.
