The Caltech Department of Mechanical and Civil Engineering announces its annual awards for graduate and undergraduate students.
Ryan Cosner, a PhD candidate in Mechanical Engineering, receives the Mechanical and Civil Engineering Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant Award. Winners are selected by a committee appointed annually by the Executive Officer for Mechanical and Civil Engineering. He is advised by Aaron Ames, Bren Professor of Mechanical and Civil Engineering and Control and Dynamical Systems.
Hannah Fisher, an undergraduate student, receives the Mechanical and Civil Engineering Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Assistant Award.
Athena Kolli, an undergraduate student, also receives the Mechanical and Civil Engineering Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Assistant Award.
Kyle Lethander, an undergraduate student, receives the 2024 Mechanical Engineering Award. Post graduation, Kyle will be working as a propulsion engineer on the SpaceX Starship Super Heavy booster in Brownsville, Texas.
Nicholas H. Nelsen, a PhD candidate in Mechanical Engineering, receives the 2024 Centennial Prize for Best Thesis in MCE for his thesis titled, "Statistical Foundations of Operator Learning." He is advised by Andrew Stuart, Bren Professor of Computing and Mathematical Sciences.
Lynn Seymour, the department administrator for Mechanical and Civil Engineering, receives the Cecilia Lin Outstanding Service Award in MCE. The Cecilia Lin Outstanding Service Award in MCE recognizes and celebrates individuals within the MCE community who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to enhancing the department's climate, culture, and scholarly endeavors through their service contributions.
