Chain Hoist
2006-2007 ME 72 Engineering Design Laboratory and Competition

THE MISSION
The object is to design and build a device which, in collaboration with a teammate's device, will move a short length of chain up as high as possible on a sloping section of plastic mesh. At the start of the contest, the teams' devices are located near the horizontal bottom edge of the sloping mesh.
CHALLENGES
The winner of each contest will be determined at the end of 48 seconds (44 seconds of power followed by 4 seconds without power) based on the height of the red center link of teach teams' chain. Ties are possible, and can occur if the center link of the two chains are judged to be at the same height. If the center link of a team's chain does not leave the start zone, the round will count as a loss for that team.
